Jack Sparrows hats were made out of rubber for a ridiculous reason! As we all know, Captain Jack Sparrow is well-known for his tricorn hat which initially was made out of leather but that had to be changed. During takes, Johnny Depp would throw the hat overboard and in the water for some scenes and of course, leather and water are not the best mix. After going through about 10 hats, the costume designer decided to give up and make them out of rubber so they would float and withstand the water.
