One red flag is the existence of the Jedi Acquisition Division. Established under the Ruusan Reformations at the end of the Jedi-Sith War, these Knights were responsible for bringing Force-sensitive children to the Jedi Temple. The Republic required newborn Midi-chlorian blood testing on all worlds. If a result scored high enough, it was sent to the Division on Coruscant and stored in the Kyber memory crystal.
It was in the Clone Wars episode „Cargo of Doom” that Cad Bane stole this crystal from the Jedi Temple. Worse still is the recruitment strategy employed by the Jedi recruiters. Infants who showed the most promise were singled out and taken from their families. The Jedi did ask for permission before removing a child, but they could legally take custody of any Force-sensitive being.
